At Patanjali International Yoga Foundation, this retreat is more than just Yoga classes — it’s a full experience for your body, mind, and soul.
Set in a quiet ashram space in Rishikesh, this retreat gives you a break from your routine life. You learn not only asanas but also breathing, mantra, kriyas and meditation — all as per traditional Indian practice.
People come from around the world to get peace, to disconnect from daily stress, and reconnect to their inner self. You start each morning with mantra chanting and calming breathwork. Then a complete Hatha yoga session. Later, after rest and meals, you join in another yoga class and evening meditation. The rhythm of each day brings your mind and body into balance again.

“Healing begins the moment you stop running from your own breath.”
No high-level experience is needed, but we recommend you have done some yoga before. At least a few months of practice helps to follow the schedule better.
We ask you to come with:
This retreat is a full yogic experience. You’ll get to live in a proper ashram environment and follow a traditional daily schedule that includes:
What makes it unique is the combination of traditional yoga, satvik food, therapy sessions, silence, and local Indian culture. The program is soft but deep — it helps you clean your mind, stretch your body, and settle your inner space.
Rishikesh is not a city. It's a sacred vibration.
People don’t come here just to stretch the body — they come to awaken their soul.
Set in the Himalayas along the sacred Ganga River, Rishikesh has been the home of saints and sages for thousands of years. The moment you arrive, you feel something change. There is something in the air — a deep silence, a natural meditation.
This retreat at Patanjali International Yoga Foundation combines all these natural blessings with structured yogic learning:
“In Rishikesh, even your breath becomes a prayer.”
This is not a commercial wellness center. It is a spiritual retreat where you return to the roots.
There are many places to do yoga, but Rishikesh is the birthplace of yoga.
When you meditate on the banks of Ganga or listen to temple bells ringing in the hills, you begin to understand — yoga isn’t just physical. It’s a sacred way of life.
Reasons to visit Rishikesh for your retreat:
This retreat is carefully designed to take care of your whole being. Here’s a short view of what you’ll experience:
You will learn:
Take part in sacred fire ceremonies (havan), kirtans, and nature walks
Patanjali International Yoga Foundation is not just a school. It’s a space created for real spiritual learning, based on ancient teachings.
What makes us special:
“We don’t promise you peace — we teach you how to find it inside.”
There are many yoga centers, but very few real yoga foundations.
Why choose PIYF?
Many of our students come back again — because here, they don’t just practice yoga. They start to live it.
“When you enter a real yoga space, your soul starts to breathe.”
“This retreat isn’t about learning more — it’s about remembering who you are.”
We are different because we don’t follow trends. We follow truth.
Our retreat is not about how flexible you are — it’s about how still you can become.
“Real yoga doesn’t change your body — it changes your life.”
Kindly, please mind that students check in date would be on the 2nd and check out date would be 15th of the month, to stay before or after the yoga course please contact the administration.
PS: Tranee also can join for 7nights and 8 days and the fees would be accordingly.
Mantra is a set of words that consist of specific sounds, vibrations received by ancient yogis, and yoga practitioners which offer a powerful physical, mental and spiritual benefit. There are many kinds of Mantras available for different purposes. You will be learning at Patanjali Yoga Foundation:
The body produces toxins at all times and we need to cleanse our bodies accordingly. Proper cleaning of our organs are very important for good health. These are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual cleansing. In the beginning, yoga practitioners should follow six practices (Sat-Karma) by which they can unblock the channels for higher experiences. With your Yoga and Meditation Retreat, you will learn these cleansing practices. You will also learn the basic theory of the following;
The whole universe is made of energy. At all times the energy is converted into matter so that we see the whole universe as what it is. Our physical body is also made of energy and it constantly works with it. With mudra channelize the energy and with bandha we control the energy and prevent it from draining. It helps us manage and maintain the energy. It also is helpful for kundalini awakening.
There are only three Bandhas according to yoga but we will teach you many preparation techniques that will help you perform the bandhas correctly.
Pranayama is the central practice in traditional yoga. Many people misunderstand Pranayama as the breathing practice only, but it is something more. In this class you will learn the secret of pranayama and how it leads us to health, peace, happiness, balance and awakening of kundalini.
We will include the practice for over 4 prana practices which include:
Patanjali Yoga Foundation teaches the traditional ancient style of Hatha Yoga that has been practiced by the Sage Patanjali Himalayan Masters for thousands of years. At our school, you practice according to your strength and flexibility. The main purpose is to attain perfect health and peace of mind. Here is the list of asana series that will be practiced:
The theory is just as important as practicing. Without proper understanding, you cannot do well. Our teachers will teach a base of understanding why, how, when, and what you need to do in an asana class. You must be self-motivated to go deeper into the postures. Here are the some of the theories you will be learning;
In the 20th century, K. pattabhi Jois has developed a modern-day form of classical Indian Yoga called Ashtanga Vinyasa. His teacher Krishnamacharya taught this form which is energetic:
Yin yoga is a slow-paced, passive style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for extended periods, typically 3 to 10 minutes, to target deeper connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, and tendons. Yin yoga aims to improve flexibility, increase range of motion, and promote relaxation by addressing the deeper layers of the body.
Kundalini yoga is a spiritual practice in yoga and tantric traditions focused on awakening the kundalini energy, which is said to be a coiled energy at the base of the spine. This practice uses techniques like chanting, breathing exercises, and repetitive poses to raise the kundalini energy through the chakras, ultimately aiming for a blissful state of samadhi.
Once you stabilize your posture through Asana, cleanse your energy through Pranayama, and control your senses through Pratyahara you will be able to focus your mind. Meditation starts with concentration practices and with our Yoga Retreat, you will learn great techniques to master the basics by which you can develop a high-level concentration and awareness.
Yoga Nidra (sleep awareness/ psychic sleep) is a journey from a conscious to a superconscious state of awareness. All animals, birds, insects, and humans sleep in the same way, and the experience of sleep also is the same. This state brings oneness and there is a great secret behind all of it. Yoga Nidra practices will take place every day.
Yoga philosophy is the philosophy of life. Just by listening and understanding one can change one's own life. Yoga philosophy does not only exist in Yoga Sutra. There are hundreds of Yogic texts and we will introduce you few important ones such as; Yoga Sutra and Upanishad.
During our 200 Hour YTT Yoga Philosophy will take you a great journey of wisdom.
“Discipline in Yoga starts when you wake up and ends when you sleep — every hour becomes a practice.”
Yoga and Meditation Retreat program follows a very tight schedule, with almost 8 to 10 times a day being assigned to some aspect of yoga, including contact and non-contact hours. You will find the yoga Retreat intensive but enlightening.

Sage Patanjali
Patanjali describes the third limb of yoga, which is the asana, as "Sthiram, Sukham Asanam" - Mean asana the position should be comfortable and stable, that is all the asana is about. Because "comfort" is such a misused word, maybe a closer word to "sukha" in English would be "ease."
Patanjali Systems
During our trainings we follow the techniques, which are described in Sanskrit sources and textbooks. Following GURUKUL training system with the central point of constant deep connection of the Master and students.

However, Patanjali International Yoga Foundation is a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance USA and Yoga Alliance International India.
